Our story

Forty-odd years, told briefly. The recent part is the hard part.

  1. 1984

The farm opens to visitors on Red Road, Berrow.

  2. 2000s

The character-day years: Bob the Builder, the Wurzels and a lot of face paint. Some of you have the photos.

  3. 2016

The rides era, with a tractor ride, a safari train and a lazy river. All gone now; the animals stayed.

  4. 2020 to 2021

Lockdown. Visitors could not come, but animals kept arriving from people who could no longer keep them. We built enclosures as fast as we could and asked for help, and people gave it.

  5. March 2021

Luna, a black fox, arrives from Wales having lost a leg to an illegal snare. Her recovery makes BBC News.

  6. 18 November 2025

    The fire.

  7. 27 December 2025

We open the gates again for a week at £8 a head, half-ready and very grateful.

  8. 14 February 2026

Full reopening, the same week one of the goats has triplets. A first for the farm.

  9. Easter 2026

The busiest Easter we can remember. Thank you.

  10. Now

A new website, online tickets on the way, and a lot of fencing still to do.

The fire

On the night of 18 November 2025 a fire destroyed one of our buildings and the feed store. Two horses, two donkeys and several of our smaller animals died. It was, as we said at the time, the most difficult and devastating time for our family and our team, and it still is.

We closed. Over the following weeks people we had never met set up fundraising pages, dropped off feed and hay, and sent more messages than we could answer. Local businesses helped. The fire service and our vets were extraordinary.

We opened for a week between Christmas and New Year at £8 a head, mostly because people asked to come, and then fully on 14 February 2026. That week, one of the goats had triplets. We are not people who look for signs, but it helped.

A year on, the rebuild is not finished and some of it never will be. But the animals are fed, the barn is warm, and the 4 o'clock fox feed has a crowd again. If you were part of that, in any way at all, thank you.

Two ways to help

Come and visit

Every ticket is feed and fencing. Bring the children, meet the foxes, and tell someone about us on the way home.

Membership is the steadiest support we have: it is what buys hay in January when nobody is visiting.
